Huckabee v. Meta Platforms, Inc. was a proposed class action brought by authors and public figures, including Mike Huckabee, David Kinnaman, and Tsh Oxenreider, alleging that Meta trained its LLaMA large language models on copyrighted literary works without authorisation, in violation of the Copyright Act. The case proceeded alongside related author lawsuits against Meta. On January 25, 2024, the court held a conference to discuss whether the Huckabee and Kadrey actions should be consolidated. Five days later, on January 30, 2024, the court approved a stipulation voluntarily dismissing all claims against Microsoft without prejudice. On June 18, 2024, the Huckabee plaintiffs filed a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal under Rule 41(a)(1)(A)(i), dismissing their case without prejudice. Subsequently, the court ordered that Huckabee v. Meta be consolidated with Kadrey v. Meta, adding plaintiff Lysa TerKeurst to the consolidated complaint. At the same time, plaintiffs Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman voluntarily dismissed their claims with prejudice.
