No comprehensive AI-specific legislation has been enacted at the federal level. The UAE Charter for the Development and Use of AI (June 2024) sets twelve non-binding governance principles. Abu Dhabi Law No. 3 of 2024 formally established the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC). The DIFC and ADGM financial free zones have issued AI-related amendments to their respective data protection frameworks.
